Not since Disco Fever

Followed up on a report of a Great Grey Shrike this morning (thanks Peter)

No sign of the bird, that had been present for two days, in the Carloway area, but I did get invited into the finders house for a coffee. After a chat I was shown the image, which they are currently unable to download, but I did manage to get this gripping shot from the rear of their camera.

Gripping. Yup, its would appear to be the first on the islands since 1978 – a time when most folk where into John Travolta and Saturday Night Fever, Scary! 33 years is a long time for a species which is relatively regular to the east of us. Last one I saw was near Inverness three years ago.

Thanks to Mr and Mrs Graham.
