After a week in Orkney, it was back to The Butt today.
Tony Marr and Mike Shrubb had been bagging North American shorebirds during the week and all were present and correct, bar the Baird’s which has departed to pastures new.
So it was American Golden Plover on Loch Stiapabhat with a flighty White rumped Sandpiper joining it, and a Pectoral Sand up The Butt. A tasty trio.
Two Wheatears (aka ‘White Arse’) were also around the lighthouse as was a flighty male Snow Bunting, with another two of the later on Barvas machair.
Congrats to Tony on the White rump flight shot – just as we saw it today!
