The autumn passage begins in earnest

The best way to clear a hangover is to sit on an exposed Atlantic outcrop and get salt and wind blasted. Off Labost this afternoon – force 5 SW – 14 Sooty Shearwaters, 6 Storm petrel, 290 Manx, 5 Bonxie, 2 Basking shark, 21 Puffins, 5 Whimbrel.

Nearby at Bragar Whooper Swan, 11 Sanderling, 6 Knot, 32 Ringed plover, 40 Dunlin and a Bar tailed godwit as well as the first juv Turnstone I have seen this autumn.

Ruff Loch Barvas plus 2 Knot there and a drake Hen Harrier over.
Bonapartes Gull reported (again) at Melbost Borve.
