Birds with Jewellery – part 1

A few Black tailed Godwits have been about of late some sporting a range of gawdy leg rings. Such birds are becoming more regular on the Hebs thanks to a big ringing programme in Iceland.
One bird was ringed in northern Iceland in July 2008 and then spent Sept 2008 to May 2010 in Hampshire, mainly around Titchfield Haven. That autumn it was reported from Snettisham in north Norfolk before again spending last winter in Hampshire.
Looks like it is heading north to Iceland to breed and ‘pit-stopping’ in Ness. (thanks to John and Iain)
