Another day of stalled migrants

The days highlight was a Ruff at Loch Ordais (with 16 Shelduck and a Gadwall). The 1w Glaucous gull remained around Barvas as did many delayed wildfowl. Over 400 Pinkfeet, 45 Greenland White fronts and 90 Barnacles wandered the Westside looking for a route to Iceland, but failed. The days tally of Tufted Ducks reached 55. The warm weather gave way to overcast conditions and a stiff westerly. Hence migrants were downed. Tony scored with the first Willow Warbler in Ness as well as lots of Pinkfeet and 3 lingering male Lapland Buntings.

Both diver species are now back on the moorland lochs and Merlin are more evident too.
