The last few days have been dominated by snow and Sundays NE gale – which apparently hit Force 12 in Ness inducing a wind chill of -16C. The icy blast brought with it Iceland Gulls to Ness, Loch Barvas and tonight a dark bird roosting on the pier at Stornoway Harbour.
On Friday the Northern Harrier was again over the southern end of Brue.
Seawatching on Sunday was tough, but a steady stream of Gannets fought the gale as did two Eiders – where were they going?!
The Starlings in the garden arrived en-masse to take advantage of a bread bin clear out – 75 on the lawn is the record.
