The gale cometh

The early morning cycle produced a Jack Snipe with dozens of Common Snipe flushed from the frozen Barvas crofts but little else.

Harris black pudding fry up (now ranking 2nd behind Charlie Barley) sustained the rest of the time out. Six Greenland White fronts skulked at Arnol but then the wind started to get up – its touching force 11 at the butt tonight per the tearoom weather vane.

Four Sanderling, Grey Plover and a striking ‘balaclava’ gull at Bragar where the most interesting from then on.

Tony tells of Snow Buntings at the Butt and a Lesser Whitethroat in Ness in recent days. Perhaps the gale will deliver mid week?
