Super Tri-Fly

Ardhasaig in North Harris has a couple of attractive gardens for migrants. Certainly a Yellow browed warbler thought so. It flicked around in hyper-mode and I managed the worst record shot ever! A host of other migrants were scattered around. Highlights being:
Red breasted Flycatcher – Finsbay
Redstart – Horgabost
Spotted Flycatcher – Horgabost
Hawfinch – 3 Tarbet.
Pied Flycatcher – Tarbet, Leverburgh
(Poss) Siberian Chiffchaff – Northton
Not often you get three species of flycatchers in a day on the Hebrides. Other birds included Arctic tern still off Tarbet and 2 Blackcaps there, Woodcock Horgabost, Hen Harrier Scarista, c10 Fieldfares and a few Brambling (30) and Redwings sprinkled about.
Slavonian Gebes were back in numbers in the Sound of Taransay with 29 – a good total, but conditons were calom and prime. In Lewis and Harris terms the Redstart was probably the best bird. I am only aware of one other in the past 6 years. Hawfinch too is good, but bloomin’ hard to photograph. The others are now annual on the island, quite a change in status over the past few years.
