Another Barred and a ‘flava’ in Brue

Autumn migrants have continued to filter through. Locally in Brue a juvenile Barred Warbler (following on from two last autumn) remains for its third day, but Wednesdays Yellow Wagtail has moved on with Meadow Pipits. Odd Snow buntings are around the coast (5 max) and Golden Plover numbers have significant increased this week – with 300plus in the Barvas and Brue are.
Brent Geese have made an appearance too, 85 driven in by the strong southerly winds as they try to head for the Irish coast were on Loch Barvas exhausted. At least one Barvas bird was darvic ringed. Red ‘D’, white ‘L’.

Loch Barvas held 5 Scaup, 111 Mallard and 2 Pintail.  A Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Greenland Redpoll and 26 Brents were seen at Bragar too.
