Nostalgia

Staying local today and a few bits and bobs showed. Red Admirals and Common Darter were around the village as were juvenile Swallows, Wheatears a couple of Greenfinches and a fly over Lapland Bunting. The local House Martins reminded me that it is six years to the day since Europe’s first Purple Martin was located at the Butt of Lewis. For nostalgia a link to some pictures taken by Yvonne Benting (now residing on South Uist) is given below. I will have to go and dig out the old video footage!

Ah, nostalgia indeed! The Purple Martin day 🙂 think i broke all speed limits that day after you phoned with the news that PM had turned up at the Butt. And it being a Sunday there was no transport into the island so just a dozen or so of us there to enjoy the sight until the next day.
