Blue skies, near balmy weather and sunshine blazed again across Lewis. Is it really September?
Todays birdy highlights were 5 Black tailed Godwits at Gress in a cut field (rare in itself), 11 Lapland Buntings at Labost and a flurry of Hen Harriers.
HH’s don’t really like Lewis, if they did they would breed, but instead have a habit of appearing in winter and autumn. A spot of post breeding dispersal brought two ghostly males together (!) to the east side of Barvas hustling Starlings in what appearred to be a pincer movement and a ‘ringtail’ over Bragar. A red letter day in itself.
