Sparrowhawks

This species is definately increasing around the islands. The last few years have seen several pairs successfully breed. Range expansion seems to be based around maturing shelter belts and well vegetated gardens that have grown up around the islands in the past 20-odd years. This bird was in a Gress garden recently, looking for a meal. Photo by Alice Starmore.

I had a nice Robin that came to my window ledge for snacks…and then I watched a Sparrow hawk catch it on the kitchen window and eat it.
